Fancy create a little more distance between their social and professional on Facebook facades? Well, the Financial Times reported that Zuckerberg & Co. are working on a new site, called "Facebook at Work" which will do just that.

The newspaper reports that the site is very similar to that of Facebook you know and love, while racing-drink-LinkedIn Corp. The idea is that the site will allow you to chat with colleagues, connect with professional contacts and even collaborate on work on documents and share files.

It is not the first time there have been rumors of a Facebook for the job. Earlier this year, TechCrunch reported that the company was working on a project called FB @ Work-a system that "could be used instead of email or instant messaging" to chat with colleagues. The site described by the Financial Times report goes a little more clearly.

The new report also states that the networking site is now in testing companies. How true these claims remain to be seen, although it has a somewhat more likely look you can be chatting with colleagues in small blue boxes in no time.

Facebook is working on expanding its network beyond the social sphere and in the professional world, according to the Financial Times, citing unnamed sources.

New product company focused company will be similar to the functionality of your existing site, with a newsfeed, groups and messaging capability. However, it will also include collaboration tools to work on shared documents. Facebook at work will be completely independent of personal accounts, without information of the social profile of a user who appears in their professional page, and vice versa.

Facebook currently working on a pilot program of principles that is based in London. At the time of writing, not host advertising.

Facebook employees are known to use the site internally for work. The creation of a new network, separate companies would bring the company in competition with Google, Microsoft and IBM, which all offer business tools.
