Begging
Hyderabad India
There are beggars, and then there are those sadhus or saints that accept donations. I do not think it's a good idea to give the beggar mean anything unless you give them meat. Giving a holy person is actually in the interests of the donor. The difficulty with giving to a holy person is who is really holy.
One problem in giving to beggars in temples or sacred places, especially if they are children, is that if you give to one, you may have a hundred people around you and ask for money. Furthermore, it is bad policy to give money to young children, as they tend to give all the money to their parents or another adult. In this way, parents do not have to work, nor is profitable for parents to give their children an education.
